𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐳̌𝐢𝐯𝐢 𝐬𝐯𝐨𝐣𝐚 𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜̌𝐢𝐥𝐚!💫

Design Week v okviru prestolnice kulture GO! 2025.

Have you torn your trousers? Lost a button? A hole in your favourite skirt? Have your clothes repaired to bring them back to life! Bring clean clothes, two or three per person, that need minor repairs, and we will repair them for free!

Repair-a-thon is a recurring event that originated in Helsinki and has since spread throughout Europe. Its purpose is to raise awareness about ecology and excessive consumption and to encourage more responsible consumer behaviour.

The event is open to everyone and is free of charge. Visitors are asked to bring their clothes to be mended or repurposed. We will carry out repairs free of charge and to the best of our ability. At the request of visitors, we also offer quick sewing lessons.

𝐒𝐚𝐬̌𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐜, born in Nova Gorica in 1986, graduated in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Ljubljana in 2015, after completing a study exchange at the Winchester School of Art in the UK.
Today, her art moves between fascination with contemporary technology, the digitisation of (intangible) cultural heritage using 3D imaging, and the use of old repair techniques as carriers of memory. Her intermedia practice is best reflected in the performative work Repair-a-thon, in which she explores personal relationships between people and their possessions and the irresponsibility of modern capitalism. Through repairs, performative action, and conversations with visitors, Nemec attempts to transform the value of submitted garments from monetary to experiential. The work was presented at the Pixelache Festival (Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland, 2017), at the Design Museum (Helsinki, Finland, 2017), as part of the exhibition 60% (Alkatraz Gallery, Ljubljana, 2019), at BIO|26 with the support of the Centre for Creativity (Ajdovščina Underpass, Ljubljana, 2020), and last year at GO! Design Week as part of the GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture.
As an intermedia artist, Nemec showcases her work both nationally and internationally.

The Wordsmiths series is a long-term photography project by Tomaž Berčič that celebrates late 20th-century and 21st-century Slovenian authors. In black-and-white portraits of writers, poets, and thinkers, the author explores the relationship between words and images, searching for the person behind the name on the book cover. He places his subjects in informal, intimate settings—their homes, streets, cafés, or nature—where authentic, candid images are captured without the sense of distance created by a studio setting.

Black-and-white photography highlights the face, gaze, gesture, and light, allowing the viewer to focus on the essence of the individual. Rather than idealising his subjects, Berčič shows them as people with life experiences, vulnerabilities, and inner strength. The series acts as a visual archive of memory, a tribute to the art of literature, and a respectful dialogue between photography and the written word. The project is accompanied by a self-published monograph with approximately 45 portraits and notes on the encounters.

𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐳̌ 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐜̌𝐢𝐜̌ (Ljubljana, 1968) is a graphic designer and artistic director at the Art Design studio. He has engaged in photography for more than four decades, the last 25 years professionally and artistically. His work focuses on portraits of common, often marginalised individuals, as well as on abandoned and degraded spaces. Berčič has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and showcased his work in Slovenian and foreign media outlets. He is the president of the Kamnik Photography Club and a tutor in workshops and regional projects.

Studijski portreti poudarjajo samozavest in prisotnost trans moških v svetu, polaroidi prikazujejo intimne trenutke v zasebnih prostorih, sekvenci pa simbolizirata prehod in osvoboditev.

S svojimi projekti si prizadeva povečevati vidnost in razumevanje trans izkušenj ter skozi vizualni jezik fotografije prispevati k širši družbeni ozaveščenosti o tej tematiki.

The Blue Butterfly is a photography project by Nal Kocjan, created in October 2023. It explores the experiences of trans men who have undergone top surgery. Combining studio portraits, Polaroids and sequences of black-and-white analogue film, the project gives visitors insight into the subjects’s stories, identities, and bodies. The studio portraits emphasise the confidence and presence of trans men in the world, the Polaroids capture intimate moments in private spaces, while the sequences symbolise transition and liberation. In 2024, a zine was created in collaboration with the DIH association, integrating the visual material with interviews and quotes that provide a social and cultural context. Through his work, Nal Kocjan explores the identity and visibility of trans men.

𝐍𝐚𝐥 𝐊𝐨𝐜𝐣𝐚𝐧 is a visual artist who employs a variety of photographic techniques in his work to raise awareness of the LGBTIQ+ community and mental health issues. His practice combines studio, analogue, and digital photography, often drawing on personal and community experiences. The Blue Butterfly project was created in 2023 to present his own experience as a trans man. His motivation stems from himself and his own experiences, as well as his desire for greater visibility for his community, its self-representation, and an insight into its intimacy. He is currently completing a photography degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, where he developed the project.
His work ranges from documentary to directorial, consciously intertwining the aesthetics of fashion photography with intimate, personal moments. Using techniques ranging from studio portraits to analogue sequences and Polaroids, he creates a multi-layered visual language that emphasises transition, ritual, and the space of self-recognition. He also gets autobiographically involved in his own projects, blurring the line between observer and subject and opening up space for an affirmative yet non-idealized portrayal of trans experiences.
Through his projects, he aims to enhance the visibility and understanding of trans experiences and contribute to a broader social understanding of this topic through the visual language of photography.
