Ob petdesetletnici Galerije Božidar Jakac smo v stalne zbirke, ki predstavljajo temelj našega muzeja, začasno vpeljali dela sodobnih umetnic in umetnikov.
V prvem sklopu vključujemo umetnike, ki so s svojimi deli že ob ustanovitvi galerije soustvarili njeno identiteto: Tone Kralj, Božidar Jakac in Jože Gorjup. Nadaljevali bomo s Pletersko zbirko, Francetom Kraljem in Francetom Goršetom, zaključili pa z Janezom Boljko, Zoranom Didkom in Nandetom Vidmarjem.

“Trajectories: Shifts”
Interventions in the Permanent Displays on the Occassion of the 50th anniversary of GBJ
1 August 2025, at 7pm
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Galerija Božidar Jakac , we have temporarily introduced works by contemporary artists into the permanent collections that form the foundation of our museum. The project Trajectories: Shifts thus opens up a temporal dialogue between 20th century art and contemporary artistic practices and heralds the major anniversary exhibition Trajectories, which will open on 12 September 2025.
The idea is based on the principle of shifts – temporal, perceptual and semantic. The shift can be a commentary or even a disturbance that asks us to linger longer with the artworks and perceive them in a different light. Through contemporary interventions, we aim to bring new readings to the permanent installations and to highlight recurring motifs in art, to interpret them and to shed light on them in relation to the past.
The project will develop gradually. The interventions will be presented in three strands, following the chronological sequence of the creation of the gallery’s permanent collections. In the first set, we are including artists whose works have co-created the gallery’s identity at the time of its foundation: Tone Kralj, Božidar Jakac and Jože Gorjup. We will continue with the Pleterje Collection, France Kralj and France Gorše, and conclude with Janez Boljka, Zoran Didek and Nande Vidmar. The first “intervention” into the collection was traditionally opened on 8 February in the Graphic Cabinet of Bogdan Borčić, where we have been setting dialogical exhibitions since 2022. With each intervention, we will establish new shifts, aimed at reflecting on how art persists, changes and addresses.
