Ob 100. obletnici rojstva Bogdana Borčića v Galeriji Božidar Jakac pripravljamo sklop treh predavanj, posvečenih razvoju grafike na Slovenskem. Predavanja spremljajo tudi likovne delavnice.

Razvojna pot Bogdana Borčića

Predavanje bo posvečeno življenju in umetniškemu razvoju Bogdana Borčića ter ključnim postajam njegove ustvarjalne poti., ki bi prav 26. septembra praznoval 100 let. Borčićev opus bo predstavljen v kontekstu časa in prostora, v katerem je nastajal, s poudarkom na njegovem odnosu do grafike, njenega jezika in možnosti.

Od prvih odtisov do moderne: razvoj grafike na Slovenskem

Predavanje bo ponudilo zgodovinski pregled razvoja grafike kot umetniškega medija na Slovenskem – od njenih zgodnjih začetkov v 16. in 17. stoletju do 20. stoletja, ko grafika doživi razcvet in se uveljavi kot samostojna umetniška zvrst. Spremljali bomo njene različne pojavne oblike in vloge: od prvih poskusov knjižne ilustracije v času protestantizma prek baročne in klasicistične grafike ter raznolikih usmeritev 19. stoletja vse do moderne.

Bogdan Borčić in slovenska grafika druge polovice 20. stoletja

Tema predavanja bo položaj grafike v Ljubljani in Sloveniji v drugi polovici 20. stoletja, ko je grafika ena bolj priljubljenih in razširjenih zvrsti vizualne umetnosti, deloma zaradi uvedbe oddelka za grafiko na ALU (1945) in začetkov grafičnega bienala (1955), prav tako pa tudi zavoljo obče kulturne politike. Dotaknili se bomo tudi vloge Borčića v živahni srenji grafikov v Sloveniji, njegov odnos do ljubljanske grafične šole, bienala, umetnostnih trendov in še česa.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Bogdan Borčić’s birth, GalerijaBožidar Jakac is organizing a series of three lectures dedicated to the development of printmaking in Slovenia. The lectures will be accompanied by art workshops.

The Artistic Journey of Bogdan Borčić

This lecture will focus on the life and artistic development of Bogdan Borčić, as well as the key milestones in his creative career. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday on September 26. Borčić’s body of work will be presented in the context of the time and place in which it was created, with an emphasis on his relationship to printmaking, its language, and its possibilities.

From the First Prints to Modernity: The Development of Printmaking in Slovenia

The lecture will offer a historical overview of the development of printmaking as an artistic medium in Slovenia—from its early beginnings in the 16th and 17th centuries to the 20th century, when printmaking flourished and established itself as an independent art form. We will explore its various forms and roles: from the first attempts at book illustration during the Protestant Reformation, through Baroque and Classicist printmaking and the diverse movements of the 19th century, all the way to the modern era.

Bogdan Borčić and Slovenian Printmaking in the Second Half of the 20th Century

The lecture will focus on the status of printmaking in Ljubljana and Slovenia in the second half of the 20th century, when printmaking was one of the most popular and widespread forms of visual art, partly due to the establishment of the printmaking department at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALU) in 1945 and the inception of the Printmaking Biennial in 1955, as well as general cultural policy. We will also touch on Borčić’s role within the vibrant community of printmakers in Slovenia, his relationship with the Ljubljana School of Printmaking, the Biennial, art trends, and more.
