In a world saturated with conflicting visual stimuli and characterized by an ever-shrinking attention span, visual artist and researcher ๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ invites us to reflect on which images truly deserve our attention. She does so by developing a discourse around a single 3D architectural rendering taken from the extensive visual output of NEOM, the smart city and special economic zoneโ€”not yet built in the province of Tabukโ€”which constitutes the central element of Saudi Arabiaโ€™s โ€œVision 2030โ€ and its post-oil diversification program.

In the lecture-performance ๐ด ๐‘†๐‘ก๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘”๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘โ„Ž๐‘ฆ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘‰๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘œ๐‘›, premiered at the Aksioma Project Space, Tafeche guides us through the stratigraphy of the chosen image, revealing layer by layer what the image seeks to conceal. Beneath its seductive, meticulously produced architectural splendorโ€”often structurally implausibleโ€”lies a carefully engineered opacity that disciplines perception and prepares acceptance rather than describing reality.
