In a world saturated with conflicting visual stimuli and characterized by an ever-shrinking attention span, visual artist and researcher 𝗡𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲 invites us to reflect on which images truly deserve our attention. She does so by developing a discourse around a single 3D architectural rendering taken from the extensive visual output of NEOM, the smart city and special economic zone—not yet built in the province of Tabuk—which constitutes the central element of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” and its post-oil diversification program.

In the lecture-performance 𝐴 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑉𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛, premiered at the Aksioma Project Space, Tafeche guides us through the stratigraphy of the chosen image, revealing layer by layer what the image seeks to conceal. Beneath its seductive, meticulously produced architectural splendor—often structurally implausible—lies a carefully engineered opacity that disciplines perception and prepares acceptance rather than describing reality.
