panelna razprava ob predstavitvi prevoda romana Sorodstvo (Octavia E. Butler)
Na dogodku bo mogoče kupiti nekatere knjige, o katerih bo govora. Dogodek bo v slovenskem jeziku.
Njihovi premisleki bodo uvertura k ogledu filma Neptune Frost.

Feminist Science Fiction beyond Dystopia
Tea Hvala, Petra Meterc, Anja Radaljac, hosted by Klara Otorepec
Panel discussion with presentation of Slovenian translation of Octavia E. Butler’s novel Kindred
Some of the books mentioned in the discussion will be on offer during the event. The event will be held in Slovenian.
But what happens when feminist authors take charge of shaping the future? Science fiction is a genre that has long been dominated by men both in literature and film. Often, it has merely represented a race to imagine technological innovations or dystopian scenarios, while female characters from the future have mostly been projections of male fantasies. However, feminists are infusing the genre with hope and joy. They are showing that the future is not just an extension of present-day injustices, but a locus for new strategies of coexistence and building a better society.
In this panel discussion, Klara Otorepec will be joined by three experts, writers and translators – Tea Hvala, Anja Radaljac and Petra Meterc – to explore the political tools offered by feminist science fiction. These reflections will precede the screening of the film Neptune Frost.
